My husband went to Walmart this afternoon to pick up some essentials. On the list were the usual suspects. Milk, burger fixings, water, and laundry detergent. I just happened to have a coupon for a free bottle of Purex. Well, the cashier, bless her heart, just couldn’t get over the fact that it was FREE. She is not the first person to Inquire as to how I get all these products free. Well, firstly, it’s not totally free. Yes, I spend no money OOP (out of pocket) but I do work for the product that I get. I am a product reviewer.
The very first site that I ever signed up for was influenster.com I had seen someone get a box full of Mary Kay makeup and I wanted in on that. Well, little did I know that this would become the start of my adventures in the fast paced, crazy, wonderful world of product testing.
With influenster you get VoxBoxes. A box filled with various products or just one product. Products range from beauty to food. I received three full sized L’Oreal Paris hair products from their Essential Oils line. They have become my go to hair care products.
When you sign up you link your social media accounts. This will bring your social impact up. Mine is 1,964. The higher your impact and the more active that you are the better chance you have of getting boxes.
Yes, active. Earning badges such as beauty, geek, foodie, techy, etc. You earn badges by writing reviews for products that you use. Love or hate, tell it like it is. Also, asking and answering questions and sharing products across your social media accounts. Once you have earned 100 points you unlock the corresponding badge. Remember to stay active though.
Once you get your box, check it in. If you have a smartphone you can download the app. Checking in your box within the app is a breeze. Find the scan option
And just scan the QR code on the insert that comes inside the box. Once the box is checked in you will need to film an unboxing video. It’s basically just showing what was inside the box. You can see all the box badge and brand badge tasks on your campaigns. They are easy and fun. Ranging from making a Pinterest board to taking and sharing pictures. You can also win more goodies by going the extra mile and making your reviews and pictures stand out. Get creative with stickers and collages. Have fun!
You will have plenty of time to finish your tasks. Campaigns usually last a month. Once the campaign closes you will be emailed a link to take the final survey. It’s simple and takes just a few minutes. Remember to take that survey to be eligible for future boxes.
Sometimes you will receive a virtual campaign. It’s not a physical box. It could be a coupon that you print out for a percentage off of a product. I currently have two of them
You can choose not to participate in virtual boxes.
I really do enjoy being an influenster. It is a fun way to try new products and help spread the word. This can be done in your spare time and is a great way to start out in reviews.
Next week is Bzzagent.
