My January Bookcase from Bookcase.club was filled with awesomeness. From Despicable Me (my son’s favorite) to a quirky dog with a magical tail and even a mystery solving gorilla. They were all great choices chosen just for me. You can get in on the goodness by visiting Bookcase.club and subscribing to one of their cases. Read more about them HERE . The three books that I received were….
My Dad the Super Villain
My three year old son absolutely flipped when he discovered this book in our January Bookcase.club box. By now everybody knows who Gru is and have fallen in love with his little yellow minions (I certainly have). This book is based on the movie and is “cliff note” to the plot. Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) has but one aspiration in life, to be the greatest Villain in the world. In order to accomplish this he devises a plan to steal the moon. The only thing stopping him from carrying out his evil plan, his arch nemesis Vector (voiced by Jason Segel) has the shrink ray that Gru needs to shrink the moon. Along come three adorable little girls Margo (voiced by Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (voiced by Dana Gaier) and Agnes (voiced by Elsie Fisher). He adopts the little girls in hopes that they can help him steal the shrink ray from Vector…
Does he succeed? Do they live happily ever after? Pick up your own copy and be prepared for adventure and cuteness.
Murilla Gorilla, Jungle Detective
By: Jennifer Lloyd and Illustrated By: Jacqui Lee
This book has quickly become the bedtime favorite in our house. Murilla Gorilla is the Sherlock Holmes of the jungle (when she can stay awake). Someone has stolen Ms. Chimpanzee’s muffins and she quickly calls Murilla to the Mango Market to crack the case. I can relate 100% to Murilla, she can’t find her things either. Her detective badge is in the bathtub and her backpack is in fridge. Once she gathers her things she is off to solve the case. From gathering clues and comparing paw prints to fighting to stay awake Murilla soon has a lead and solves the case. It is a classic “who done it” with a jungle twist and is sure to keep your littles guessing until the last page.

Q: What do you call a dog whose tail can make magic happen?
Zach has wanted a dog for so long. He wanted a cool dog, like a German Shepherd or a Chocolate Lab. In walks Larry, a mix of just about every type of dog there is. With a large nose and even larger nostrils that were like, huge. His tail though, boy his tail was something else. When Larry wagged that tail, magic happened. From shrinking the tallest kid on the block to saving his cousin Seymour from a bee sting (Seymour is allergic to bees) Larry always seems to have Zach’s back. I found myself laughing out loud several times while reading this book to my littles. This book just proves the age old adage that dogs are a man’s (and boys) best friend.
I hope that you found this post both informative and entertaining and as always Thank You For Stopping By.
