David Bowie, born David Jones in Brixton, London in 1947. His voice is easily recognizable and his style iconic. Whether you know him as Ziggy Stardust or The Thin White Duke he was and forever will be one of the greatest musicians of all time.
To say that I cried when I found that he had passed is an understatement. I wept for myself, for his family and for the millions of fans who were undoubtedly weeping with me. He was a visionary. Changing his look and persona on a whim. He could have you going into the farthest reaches of space and in a blink of an eye you were dancing in the streets.
While I know that this is a coloring book I will not be coloring in it. The pages contain Bowie’s many iconic outfits. From Aladdin Sane in 1973 with his lightening bolt make up. His famous “rabbit suit” worn on the Ziggy Stardust tour and designed by Kansai Yamamoto. His cobweb costume designed by Natasha Korniloff left very little to the imagination but Bowie pulled it off stupendously. His ” King of the Trolls” look for 1986’s movie Labyrinth (I had Blockbuster on speed dial waiting for a copy). No matter what he wore his music had a way of making your soul feel at ease. My children find it fascinating that he voiced the character the King of Atlantis in the Spongebob series.
His music and his fashion are timeless. This book captures his essence perfectly and is a DEFINITE must have for any David Bowie fan. It was even featured in Family Circle magazines Holiday Gift Guide (family) and is proudly being displayed on my coffee table.
